For the majority of my life I have had a huge aversion to being a beginner at new things. I was afraid to look like a poser or stupid, for people to judge me, and I wanted to be perfect at things that I tried right away. But to all of those beliefs that initially held me back, I say, ‘thank you’ for trying to protect me, but I no longer need to hang on to you anymore.
Recently I’ve been diving into so many new hobbies that I’ve either always wanted to pursue or already dabbled in a little bit, but was too afraid to go all in. Playing the ukulele, photography, and surfing, just to name a few.
When we trace back to the source of why we put off learning something we’ve always wanted to, it most likely stems from fear. So do something today that makes you uncomfortable. Allow yourself to be a beginner at something you’ve always wanted to do and experience how exciting it can truly be ✨
