As Summer is coming slowly to its end, I can't help remembering and missing my latest holidays in the idyllic island of Skopelos. The renowned "Mamma Mia" island keeps its simply stunning Greek authentic style and traditions. Still unspoiled by tourism, even I, as a Greek, can appreciate its homely, warm, plain charm and unpretentious hospitality. Like having holidays with all my family which is a rare luxury! Or like having my simple hotel breakfast al fresco, which consisted of: a Greek Koulouraki, bread sticks, local Kaseri cheese, local honey and tea. But what a spectacular view: over my balcony I could see many trees like olive, lemon, prune, orange and pine trees. I could smell the amazing fresh smells of their fruits, ripe and ready to be picked and beyond... the beautiful smell of the sea. I could hear all the countryside sounds: the bell from the local church ringing, the rooster crowing in the early morning and the flock of sheep in the distance baaing and their little bells ringing and beyond again... the sea like a siren calling me for a swim. Oh, how I wish I could be there now. Skopelos will always remind me of the amazing, simple holidays I used to have as a child, of bygone times I thought were forever gone, but thankfully are still kept alive in small Greek islands. Dear friends, the simple things in life, things you can experience with your loved ones and with all your senses, are always the best! The beautiful memories from my holidays in Skopelos will be kept in my heart to keep me going through the winter 💖!
