One of the reasons that inspired this full time familytravel adventure, is that we always felt that when we came home from our five week summer holidays, our family always felt much closer, much more "connected". After a few years, we knew we wanted more of this. The idea of a year of travel and then after that indefinite full time travel was born...
Traveling has brought us many things, some of those were things we hoped and wished for, other things were totally unexpected. But in this case, the closer family bonds, the feeling of being more connected, this travel adventure has definitely brought us that.
I thought about this in Tikal....
Here we are at the end of our visit of the massive site of Tikal, we have walked a few hours straight, climbed three massive pyramids, the sun is climbing, we are all tired.... Flora is having a hard time. Kilian too. Kobe is having the hardest time (he is the only child that climbed all three pyramids). Willem decides to carry Kobe in his neck for a few hundred meters. And somehow Kilian finds it within himself to propose to Flora to do the same for her. As she is so happy and grateful for that, she is energised again, and this in turn energises Kilian, who carries her quite a while, because of her happiness and encouragement. And the hard last kilometer just passed in an instant.... And I am watching this, feeling so happy for how they have learned to help each other when it gets hard, learning that in helping others there is also so much value for yourself.... They help each other grow and rise, bonding and connecting while doing so.... Visiting Tikal is quite something, it has been on my list for quite a while, but these are the things I will remember most and value most, these are the real lessons learned...💜
