For today's bonus edition of "Voice of the Week", we are excited to introduce Andy Macdonald, one of our new members at our Kingsway Location. Read his blurb below to get to know his story. 🎶
"I turned 50 last year and I had never been exposed to the creative side of music. I never played an instrument, never sang in a choir, and I had never written a song or even contemplated doing so. That all began to change the day I met Cheryl Bower. It was January 2018 and I found myself at a lyric writing class thinking it might give me something to do with my eldest daughter who is the musician of the family. That's when I met Cheryl and heard her rave about a Songwriter Getaway she had been on and she encouraged me to attend the next one that March in New Orleans. I immediately went home and signed up for the New Orleans Getaway and from that moment on my world changed. A year later I have written several original songs, recorded three of them, started to learn to play guitar, performed my original tunes in several open mics and now joined a choir.
I joined VRC because I wanted to work on my vocals and learn how to use my voice. After only a few classes I know it was a great decision. Anthony has already taught me more about singing than I had ever known. I enjoy how he pushes the choir to reach perfection in a relaxed and comedic way.
I joke that creating music and singing is more fun than going to a therapist. It is a positive release that everyone should experience!
I look forward to getting to know everyone in the VRC community!"
Andy recently released his first single, "Raise a Glass Boys," just in time for St. Patrick's Day! It is available on iTunes, Spotify, and more: https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/andymacdonald/raise-a-glass-boys-feat-maggie-macdonald-dan-macdonald-nathan-bishop-macdonald--murray-foster
