“If we die, we die. But first, we’ll LIVE.”
-Ygritte to Jon Snow in “The Bear and the Maiden Fair” episode of Game of Thrones-
Just as we did upon seeing the entrance to the Eyrie (a.k.a. Þingvellir National Park), I geeked out to be at “Eastwatch-by-the-Sea”!
I ❤️ television and movies. 🎞📺🎬 (Probably a little *too* much, if we are being honest…) Anyway, growing up, we didn’t have money to travel, so watching TV and videos (and reading lots of books, #EnglishMajor after all) were forms of escape. I could travel in my mind WHEREVER I wanted to go. Stories I read and saw became a foundation that I built upon with my imagination, and I became fascinated with how those worlds were constructed by their creators. The characters, the settings, the plot and literary/film devices, the technical craft and science to take it from the page to the screen…😍 After all, I wanted to create my own while pursuing *this* world.
So being in the same locations that bring George R. R. Martin’s creation to life was unreal!
