Here’s my reminder to you that there’s a healthy way to lose weight and it definitely doesn’t involve starving yourself! ❤️*Swipe to see two more examples of why this doesn’t work* . I want to keep you from making the same mistakes I did when I was younger. Starving yourself all day only to binge later at night won’t leave you feeling good! Not to mention all the hormonal issues and health issues that arise when we eat too little. . Losing weight the healthy way may take more time but it will leave you feeling so much better overall! Eating in a slight calorie deficit while paying attention to the quality of our food, getting movement in, hydrating and picking up healthy habits along the way is where the magic happens. Here are my tips on how to lose weight the healthy way: . 1️⃣ Stop drinking your calories, aside from low sugar kombuchas, actually green green juices (mostly veggies), & high quality protein shakes. Aka get rid of the juices, fruit smoothies, sodas, sugary coffee drinks etc 2️⃣ Limit the processed foods you eat. 3️⃣ Add tons of veggies to your dishes! This will add loads of volume. 4️⃣ Make sure you’re getting an adequate amount of protein. This will help you feel full. 5️⃣ Add in some healthy fats. Fats are super important for the absorption of certain vitamins & important for overall health. 6️⃣ Find the right amount of whole food carbs for you. You definitely shouldn’t fear carbs either! Pick whole food ones like sweet potatoes, potatoes, fruit, rice & beans and you’re on the right track! . Baked Salmon and Asparagus in Foil with Lemon Garlic Butter Sauce 😋😍 @mealpreprecipes - Recipe By: @eatwell101 —— Ingredients: 2 slices of salmon fillet 2 tablespoons vegetable broth or chicken broth 1 1/2 tablespoon fresh lemon juice, or to taste 1 tablespoon of your favorite hot sauce (we used Sriracha) 4 teaspoons minced garlic (4 cloves) Salt and fresh ground black pepper, to taste 3-4 tablespoons butter, diced into small cubes (or ghee) 2 tablespoons fresh chopped parsley or cilantro 1 lb (450g) medium-thick asparagus, woody ends trimmed —— Instructions: 1. Preheat your oven to 425ºF (220ºC). Cut 2 sheets of 14 by 12-inch (35 x 30 cm) heavy duty aluminum foil then lay each piece separately on the countertop. In a small bowl, combine the ingredients for the sauce: broth, lemon juice, and hot sauce. 2. Divide salmon fillets onto the aluminum foil near the center then place trimmed asparagus to one side of the salmon, following the long direction of the foil. 3. Sprinkle over garlic and then season with salt and pepper. Drizzle the sauce generously over the salmon fillets. 4. Divide butter pieces evenly among the foil packets, layering them over the salmon and asparagus. 5. Wrap packets in and crimp edges together then wrap ends up. Don’t wrap too tight – keep a little extra space inside for heat to circulate. 6. Transfer to a baking sheet and bake in the oven, sealed side upward until salmon has cooked through, about 9 – 12 minute. 7. Carefully unwrap the baked salmon foil packets then drizzle with more lemon juice and garnish with fresh parsley or cilantro and a slice of lemon. Enjoy! —— Notes: 1. You can double the amounts for a family meal. 2. In general, it is better to not overcook salmon. If you like salmon and asparagus a bit crispy, just open the foil packs and broil in the oven for 2 minutes. 3. If aluminum foil is a concern, you can use parchment paper to make the packets 4. Don’t fear fats! Whether your goal is fat loss, muscle gain or just maintenance, dietary fats are an important part of a balanced healthy diet. In fact, not having enough fat in your diet can manifest in symptoms like extreme mental fatigue, dry skin, excessive hunger, loss of menstrual cycle, and more. . While some people might fear fats because they think that ingesting fat will “make them fat,” fats are not the enemy and that’s just not the case. While fats are energy dense, (9 calories per gram compared to carbs/proteins which are 4 calories per gram), they’re also very satiating so a adequate portion of fat can leave you feeling fuller. In addition, your body uses stored fat as energy when we go periods of time without food. . 🧠 Did you know your brain needs fat?Brain matter is compromised of about 60% fat (when drained of water). Monunsaturated fats like olive oil, avocados, almonds, and eggs can also increase production of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter that plays an important role in learning and memory. . 🌡  Fats protect and insulate your body. The layer of fat under your skin help regulate internal body temp. Vital organs, like your kidneys, have a layer of fat around them that acts as bubble wrap to protect them. . ✨ When it comes to creating new cells, fats are used in the production of phospholipid cell membranes and hormones. Communication between cells is also dependent upon lipids. . Some of my favorite healthy fats to include in my nutrition plan are eggs, salmon, almonds, other nuts, olives/olive oil, grass-fed meats. One of my favorite cafes in Seattle had a sign hanging on their door saying “do you love vegetables and nice people? Come work for us.” And I fully considered never flying home and staying to work at this magical cafe with my favorite things (vegetables and nice people.) but alas, here I am, at work and back to my life but still secretly dreaming about it all🤔 . I had never cooked tofu but actually love it and the fact that it can taste like whatever you marinade it in (soooo tahini? Win in the book of steph) and it paired v nicely with @sperofoods superfood vegan goat cheese, turmeric toasted Pepitas, massaged kale, nutritional yeast roasted carrots/zucchini/onion, and hummus😛 . For the dressing/marinade: used this for the tofu marinade and also to massage the kale! I did 1/4 cup tahini, juice of half a lemon, a bunch of roasted garlic, 1/4 cup water, 1/4 cup coconut aminos, salt and nutritional yeast!

LUNCH: avocado spring roll + mushroom lemon tofu curry soup HUNGER: 4- SNACK: macadamia nuts + dark chocolate square HUNGER: 4 DINNER: portobello, zucchini, sauerkraut, manchego HUNGER 7 DESSERT: gooey banana bread pudding: green banana, 1 heaping tablespoon of almond flower, 1 tablespoon nut butter, chopped dark choc, monk fruit sweetener, pinch of baking powder ... mush it all in bowl and microwave on high for 1 minute. Soooooooo good. HUNGER 0 CRAVING 7 #cleaneating mostly #keto #paleo That concludes my food for today. Proud that I didn’t “treat myself” to a pastry at coffee shop even tho I wanted it real bad. Keto Fish Tacos! 🐟🥑🌮 Instead of a tortilla, I made one out of Monterey Jack Cheese; simply form a circle using any cheese and bake for 7 mins. Cool off for a couple minutes and drape over some spoons for about 3 mins to form a taco shell form. Baked some Tilapia and topped off with some guacamole and Cole Slaw. Chicken- Trader Joe’s harissa paste, yogurt, turmeric, garam masala, paprika, Himalayan pink salt, ground red chili flakes, cumin seeds skewered then baked on 425 for 30 minutes . Drizzled over lemon/chili flake mix 20 mins in and 10 minutes before removing —- bought Egg thins from Costco 😮 so good

🥦 Broccoli Bolognese 🍝 for dinner tonight. With warmer weather coming around I’m trying out growing my own food. I picked out a few plants today and I am SO excited to see them grow bigger! I chose snap peas, tomatoes, jalapeños, and not pictured is my strawberry plant. Tomorrow I am going to plant basil seeds and some flower seeds and watch those grow too 🌱 When I get my own house I picture a big garden in the backyard with all kinds of veggies and pretty flowers. Growing up my mom always had the best garden! Too bad I was waaay too picky of an eater to truly appreciate it! For now I’ll make my balcony work. My husband and my favorite kind of date night is picking up some great filets and an excellent bottle of wine and having a date night in. Getting up close & personal today, with not only these bad boys, but BINGE EATING. Something most of us can resonate to some degree with. I know for me personally, days when I restricted my food or didn’t allow myself enough of what I WANTED, I’d find myself binging at night. I never understood why. It makes sense. Our bodies do so much throughout the day - they need proper fuel. If you’re under nourished, your body is going to be screaming at you; YO, FEED ME. Binging is not the problem, restriction is. It is all intertwined. I am by no means saying don’t enjoy some after dinner treats, because hello, look at my feed. Ya girl loves her dessert. But this doesn’t mean face plant into a bag of Oreos. Have some, enjoy that ish, take a deep breath, & walk away! We all have bad days & good days. But hang in there! It comes with practice 💕 . . Cancer-fighting, anti-inflammatory diets. These hit home for me, obviously due to going through treatment with Thomas. Through my education & personal experience, I’ve seen first hand the power of a nutrient dense diet in preventing & fighting cancer. It’s SO important. I cook a ton for Thomas, because I love consciously creating meals that are packed full of alllll the herbs, spices, & foods that have been proven to be effective against this awful disease & that also make him feel awesome. It’s insane to me the power food has in the prevention of disease, so I preach it allll the time. Typically, we both eat plant-based diets & our diets are pretty similar, although he definitely consumes more grains than I do! That boy can EAT. 😂🤦‍♀️ but I figured it may be helpful for me to not only show you my meals, but his meals as well, just as even more healthy inspo 💕 . . -wild caught Salmon with garlic, chives, turmeric, parsley, & dill broiled in a little @primalkitchenfoods Avo oil -a mix of sprouted & cauli rice -sweet potatoes air fried with herbs -arugula salad with peppers, microgreens, carrots, nutritional yeast, & a sprinkle of Brazil nuts (gotta get that selenium in!) -homemade tahini sauce (mixture of @woodstockfoods tahini, smoked paprika, @yellowbirdsauce hot sauce, @sow.usa Chia oil, chives, parsley, cilantro, cumin, lemon, onion & garlic, & ACV) Tip: if you follow a specific diet, to keep paleo, just stick to cauli rice!
