Good Morning, Happy Sunday!
Most of the time, if your anything like me your weekends are overscheduled, overmanaged, and have the possibility of turning into a stressful experience. It's all too easy to spend weekends catching up on chores or running to sporting events. Heck sometimes they can be so busy you have to divide and conquer just to get it all done.
There is the age old saying that the best gift you can give someone is time.
Are you present when the opportunity presents itself? Are you making time?
Obviously life can’t stop on the weekends. There are still errands and events to attend but are you taking time in those moments to be present in it?
The time taken to live in the moment your In is priceless. You will never get those moments back.
Sometimes just knowing that the time we have does have a limit is not good enough. Sometimes we need a visual.
I was reading somewhere that someone was listening to morning talk show. And the theory of a "thousand marbles” was being explained.
The guest explained, “You see, I sat down one day and did a little arithmetic. The average person lives about seventy-five years. I know, some live more and some live less, but on average, folks live about seventy-five years." "Now then, I multiplied 75 times 52 and I came up with 3900 which is the number of Saturdays that the average person has in their entire lifetime. "It took me until I was fifty-five years old to think about all this in any detail", he went on, "and by that time I had lived through over twenty-eight hundred Saturdays. I got to thinking that if I lived to be seventy-five, I only had about a thousand of them left to enjoy." Now he went to a couple different toy stores to gather a 1000 marbles. He took them home and put them in a jar. And as every Saturday rolled around he removed one.
He had found that by watching the marbles diminish,
He focused more on the really important things in life.
Whether you need a visual or have just honed the art of being present. Don’t let your time escape you. 🎁Before your child turns 18, you will have enjoyed (or endured) approximately 936 weekends with them.
