A must-visit in Portugal is the mountain town of Sintra, which is home to several fairytale-like palaces and villas. 🏰 This one is the Quinta da Regaleira, a former private villa with a romantic gothic design and dreamy gardens.
The home was originally owned by António Augusto Carvalho Monteiro, also known as “Monteiro the Millionaire,” who had the house built in 1904. The house and grounds have references to the Knights Templar, the Masons, and even alchemy - which only adds to the feeling of it being a little bit enchanted.
Not everyone visits this spot in Sintra, but I definitely think you should. The inside of the house is so-so, but the outside and the gardens are absolutely stunning. I definitely felt like a princess 👸🏻 wandering the grounds here.
Do you visit stately homes and gardens on your travels? Would you want to visit this one?
