I backpacked out to this spot two years ago, and it was so difficult that I didn't think I'd do it again anytime soon. This spring, the levels in Lake Powell dropped so low that the "spine" was visible. This is a pretty rare occurrence, and I have better equipment now, so I thought I'd give it another try. The difficult part of the hike is carrying LOTS of water, which means lots of weight. This year I carried extra water, and the hike seemed SO easy! It's amazing what a good backpack can do.
