Big thanks to my trusty dive buddy and dear friend Claire Hatton ( @hattocspix) for capturing this sneaky shot of me on her GoPro, as I was filming sharks in the Galapagos Islands, even though my positioning was not exactly perfect. One of the most common questions I get asked is “scuba diving vs freediving, what’s the difference?”. Although I’m more naturally inclined to freedive to get the shot, I’m not averted to using tanks in order to get the shot, though it ultimately depends on what and where the shot is. In environments like Darwin’s Arch or Wolf Island, where most of the action happens below 25m and in strong currents, I would definitely don my scuba gear, as it would simply be far too impractical and dangerous to try that on breathhold. If you had a choice between scuba diving and freediving, which one would you pick?
