I had the best of intentions of going into the office for a few hours this morning, but I wasn’t feeling it, planning on rearranging my day so I could enjoy some “me time” at one of my favorite breakfast spots! It’s been a long week of work, difficult moments, and retreat planning. This place is packed and I sat in three different spots hunting for a plug, only to find out I left my power source at home (WTF)! My computer died immediately. While thinking of how to best utilize my time, I look up, and this was directly in front of me. Just starting at me. At first I examined the colors, not reading the words. - February 23, 2019 - • - Jesus: Taken from Among Men - • Hebrews 5:2 (NIV) “He is able to deal gently with those who are ignorant and are going astray, since he himself is subject to weakness. ” In Hebrews 5, the author continues presenting his case for the superiority of Christ. This time demonstrating how Jesus perfectly fulfilled two primary qualifications of the high priest: appointed by God and taken from among men. First, let’s study how the high priest was taken from among men. In our More Moment, we will look at how he was appointed by God. The Levitical high priest taken from among men God did not choose a saint or an angel or a stone figure to fill this role. He intentionally chose a human being, a priest from the tribe of Levi, one of the 12 tribes of Israel. (Exodus 28) The high priest’s humanity ensured the Israelites found compassion and understanding at the tabernacle gate. They gave their offerings to a man who knew what it was to struggle with temptation, to lose control, to be poor, to be sick, to suffer. The law also stipulated that before the high priest could present offerings on behalf of the people, he had to humble himself before God and offer sacrifices for his own sin. Again ensuring the high priest identified with those coming day and night with their offerings. The Great High Priest left His rightful place in heaven to become man. Although Jesus was not literally taken from among men, He left heaven, came to earth and became one of us. “[Jesus] Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness” (Philippians 2:6-7). When the time was right, Jesus left His glorious home in heaven, His honored seat at the right hand of His Father. He poured every ounce of His holiness into Mary’s womb and became one of us. Jesus grew as a man. He endured trouble and heartache. He entered into relationships and friendships. He experienced everything we think and feel. He even walked through times of temptation. Our Jesus did this so that He could sympathize and deal⬇️⬇️⬇️

Una iglesia es mucho más que un edificio, es mucho más que un grupo de gente y es mucho más que una liturgia conocida de boca en boca. Una iglesia es Dios mismo trabajando en cada uno. Ir a una iglesia no te garantiza absolutamente ningún resultado instantáneo, pero si te vas a encontrar con procesos asegurados y de diferentes duraciones. Me encanta pensar a la iglesia como un hospital con personas en recuperación. Recuperacion de que? De nosotros mismos. Cada persona es tan compleja, que el cuidado y amor por Dios es tan delicado que sobrepasa todo entendimiento y razón. Cada persona que entra en una iglesia busca compañía y aceptación. Lamentablemente, muchas veces, no llega el mensaje y eso duele. Le duele a Dios mismo. Creo que deberíamos aprender a construir y destruir ciertas torres de Babel que tan mal nos hacen como hijos de Dios. No será tiempo de dejarnos abrazar por Dios y recibir el afecto que tanto necesitamos? No será que el Dios que merece cada persona en la calle es el mismo Dios que nos recibió con amor y perdón a nosotros? Me pregunto y repregunto, si yo estoy mostrando este Dios de la iglesia a mis amigos que todavía no tienen la hermosa posibilidad de conocerlo.
