A proposal for a new uniform media free usage policy. An idea to change our frame of reference to one of time and preservation.
Legacy analogue delivery increments would correspond with new free access periods.
Newspapers - 1 day
Weekly Magazines - 1 week
Monthly Magazines - 1 Month
Periodicals - Bi-montlhly
Social Media Post - at sole discretion of author (unless a public figure)
#Within these periods, article view limits could also be set (preferably at least 10 - most people would never go over the daily limit regardless of a restriction existing). All entities desiring to retain the labels associated with these historical delivery methods, must maintain and ensure protection of analogue copies for the historical archives, otherwise, an alternative brand identity will be required.
#For the non-legacy entities, make sure the legacy guys always cite you if you are the source. It will economize and incentivize finding the next important story.
For all content outside the free usage window, a tiered payment system will be implemented based on time. For access back 1 calendar year (perpetually adjusted so only most recent 365 days viewable), 5 years, 10 years, etc. The further back, the more expensive the service. Historical preservation is expensive.
