Ok so I’m no fan of Duckie from Pretty in Pink. Put away your torches and pitchforks good townsfolk. That doesn’t mean that I can’t appreciate other Jon Cryer roles. Submitted for the approval of the midnight society, I call this tale, Hiding Out (1987). Basically Andrew is a banker on the run from some killers and decides to disguise himself as a high school student, and shacks up with his cousin. He becomes Max after looking at a coffee can 👍🏻. Max is instantly popular and cool. He even gets into a creepy time relationship with a girl who thinks he’s like 17 or something. Along with most 80s film in retrospect, we just roll with that creepy shit. . . . . . . #iliveinlaurel #filmreview #filmlover #movielovers #moviebuff #moviecritic #filmcritic #filmcritics #cinemalover #cinema #cultclassic #cultclassics #movie #movies #film #films #moviecritics #joncryer #prettyinpink #hidingout #80s #80sfilm #80sfilms #80smovies #tbt #throwbackthursday #tbthursday

Cinema Excelsior 🎥 _________________ Spoiler Free review: Avengers: Endgame (2019) dir. Anthony Russo, Joe Russo An astonishing fan feast for all of us that hold these characters near to our hearts. 'Avengers: Endgame' is an epic conclusion to dozens of compelling stories and character arcs, so ambitiously brought to the screen that it could be tempting to point out narrative flaws or pace inconsistencies throughout the film. However, there is no reason to do such thing when the scale of the adventure, fan BLESSED service, visual impeccability and superb acting triumph so overwhelmingly. The film grows little by little, simmering, getting to an inconceivable and monumental third act that brought a rapid heartbeat and genuine tears to my eyes. What a finale for this chapter! MLA: Road to Endgame Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018) dir. Peyton Reed Wazzuuuuuuuuup, so anyway, this guy, Ant-Man, gets out of jail and starts being a badass. And that's when he gets a film. And people's all like, "I want nothing to do with you. Look at my hairdo. I'm all business." And then Scotty's like, "You know what, people? My film's awesome, and that's probably because it doesn't have any pressure of being great, it's just fun. But damn, if I want to kiss you!" But then you fast-forward and they're all like into each other, right? And then Scotty's like, "You know what, I can't tell you this, but I'm gonna go trashing the airport with Captain America in his movie!" Then people said, "I can't believe you split like that! Smell you later, dummy!" So Scotty goes on to have a second film, and he won't admit it, but his heart is all like, "Damn! I thought people would appreciate my light-hearted, entertaining as hell humour and creative action sequences. And Michael Douglas, yo." But fate brought them back together, and then people's heart is all, "I'm worried that I can't trust him. And he's gonna screw up again and ruin everything." And in my heart, it's all like, "That fancy raspberry filling represents Marvel's greatness. And we're days away from going out of business in Endgame! Oooh!" So, anyway, this guy, Paul Rudd, is a treasure and we must protect him, you know? I hope this sums up why this film, as imperfect and silly as it is, is pure gold. Take yourself too serious and you get The Dark World, have fun filming and you get this gem. A part of the journey is the end, so we'll finish it with @g_reelz fun facts about Ant-Man and the Wasp, as always. And we are just days away from getting to the end of a chapter, so stay tuned for all our Avengers: Endgame reviews. Whatever it takes! Cinema Excelsior.

Vertigo (1958) dir. Alfred Hitchcock I suddenly felt the urge of talking about this gem, Hitchcock's finest film in my opinion. 'Vertigo' was a challenge for a director that having mastered the thriller genre, went on to fill the narrative with multiple symbolic scenes, to use production design and colours to fascinate us with a story about desire, and even toyed with the limits of reality and dreams. This is not me denying Hitchcock's comfort in filming just thrillers, but me defending his creativity and variety within them. Cinema Excelsior. ________________________ Vertigo (1958) dir. Cinema Excelsior.

“The Judge (2014)”, starring Robert Downey Jr. & Robert Duvall, is an emotional movie about a family drama. Hank Palmer (Robert Downey Jr.) is a successful lawyer in Chicago. He doesn’t get along well with his family who live in Indiana. He receives a call that his mother died so he goes to Indiana for her funeral. Then, his brother calls him & asks him to come back again because their father, the Judge, is suspected of a murder. He decides to stay in town to defend his father’s case. The movie may not have the most interesting storyline but it is a touching one. It has a predictable storyline. The acting is really good & you feel sad for everyone in the Palmer family because each of them wants the best for each other but they are unable to express that. This movie focuses on father-son relationship & conflict. It basically emphasizes how unresolved issues remain unresolved & lead to more conflicts, drama & trust issues. It also leads to regret if it remains unresolved. Robert Duvall is a really wonderful actor. The scenes, he plays, are really touching & heartbreaking. Robert Downer Jr. is also great in this movie. Before concluding my review, I also have to say that the movie has an amazing soundtrack. I have never ever had a cinematic experience like this before in my life. This movie is not just epic, it is 🎖🎖🎖BEYOND EPIC with so many surprises and instant classic scenes. It managed to give an extremely satisfying conclusion to the journeys of the OG 6 Avengers. If this movie sucks, it would hurt all the 21 films before it. Thankfully, it is awesome. What Endgame did now was enhance all the 21 films before it in the MCU. This movie is really made for the fans. What I can say is this, the bigger a fan you are of MCU films, the more invested you are in all of them, the bigger the payoff you will get. For a massive fan like myself, I can’t help but feel immensely emotional ♥️♥️after watching Endgame. I cheered, I laughed, I am in awe of it and teared up many times during my 2 viewings of the movie. That 3rd act was pure 😙JOY on a epic level. The movie even surpassed my super high expectations. There are some details regarding the time travel which I wasn't so sure about during my 1st viewing, however upon 2nd viewing and closer "inspection", everything is cool. This movie is really a MIRACLE. Kudos to the👏👏👏 Russo brothers. It is so damn hard to pull off something like this and they stick the landing so beautifully. It is a 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟classic that will be talked about many many years to come. It is a culture event that is probably once in a lifetime. I guess we have to wait for a long time to witness something like this again. Endgame is an incredible👍👍 DRAMA film, it's not just a superhero action movie. I love the slower 1st and 2nd acts as much as that final 3rd act. To sum it up, the more invested you are in these characters and these films in the MCU, the more you will love Endgame. PS: I was extremely lucky 🍀 and grateful to be able to get tickets for the opening day and the day after. With the crazy demand for Endgame tickets, I initially thought I won't be able to experience it on the opening day. Thankfully, the site crashed after we managed to book the tickets. I've been following the MCU since the beginning in 2008 and I will never forget the this finale cinematic experience that close off a glorious chapter.

Throwback to Oscar Sunday. New shoes, rented dress but baby, I felt like a ⭐️! 🎬 I went to the Oscars with my friend @bescher seated next to me. A fact that surprises most people is that I’m naturally really shy, big parties aren’t my things. Which is one of the reasons I created Liquid Marmalade even though I was solo I wouldn’t allow myself to miss out. 🎬 What’s a surprising fact about you that shocks people when they hear it? #tbt #oscars

#artadvisory #curator #artecontemporanea #braziliancontemporaryart #arte #saopaulo #brazil #artadvisor #joaocarlosvillela #villelaadvisory #contemporaryart #art #arte #coquetel #espacoitaudecinema #espacoitau #freicaneca #shoppingfreicaneca #cinemanacional #cannes #cinemabrasileiro #filmfestival #filmcritic #criticadecinema #lossilencios #artconsultant

No spoilers Just saw Avengers Endgame again (in less than 24 hours)but this time in @reald3d and it looked stunning. Enjoyed it almost as much as I did at midnight, the atmosphere of a midnight showing is completely different. Anyways, read my non spoiler review (the previous post on my feed) for a little more detail. I definitely recommend watching it in 3D if you get the chance. Hopefully I get to watch it in 4DX soon at the O2 Cineworld. . . . . #avengersendgame #captainmarvel #endgame #avengers #ironman #thanos #robertdowneyjr #thanosdemandsyoursilence #brielarson #marvel #stanlee #marvelcinematicuniverse #marvelstudios #antmanmemes #filmcritic #cineworld #cineworldunlimited #thanosmemes #avengersmemes #10yearsofmarvelstudios #dontspoiltheendgamees #moviereview #filmreview #moviecritic #avengersendgamereview

#UNDERRATEDGEMS - 57 Today's pick - #ASSASSINS - 1995 I can't believe i didn't cover ASSASSINS yet! criminally underrated and extremely bad ass film! Stallone was so awesome in this. kinda laid back, ruthless and bad-ass. sort of anti-Rambo. ASSASSINS was freaking incredible. one of my favorites of all time. Julianne Moore was amazing as well. Antonio Banderas plays one of my all-time favorite characters in this. His Miguel character was insane and simply put savage! Also ASSASSINS was a fantastic script by Wachowski Brothers (at the time, crazy to think they are sisters now, wild.) I miss Richard Donner as well, his Lethal Weapons are quintessential to any action films. #films #film #filmbuff #filmnerd #filmcritic #filmreview #cinephile

Aquaman starring Jason Momoa, Willem Dafoe, Nicole Kidman, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson. Basic Plot: Aquaman is tasked with stopping a sea king from taking over the world, even though the sea king has some fair points about land dwellers destroying the planet. Which side of climate change are you on, Aquaman? Spoiler: Aquaman succeeds, allowing humans to continue their inevitable self-destruction. Thanks for nothing, Aquaman. Review: DC is notorious for their overuse of CGI, and in this film they quadrupled down. For a lot of the movie the actors’ faces are distorted by an underwater/funhouse mirror effect, which makes it difficult for us viewers to have an emotional connection with their performances. I feel like they were trying to disguise a dreadfully boring story by overwhelming us visually. A good example of this was whenever there was any kind of dialogue, an explosion interrupted the conversation, as if the filmmakers were trying to distract us from bad writing. The only saviors of the film were Amber and Nicole, whom without, the film would have flopped. On the deck like a fish. I had to guys, I had to. Here is THE AVENGERS, directed by Joss Whedon. This 2012 superhero film was the culmination of many superhero films in the MCU. When this came out, people were amazed at the brilliant writing, and awesome special effects of this highly wanted film. This film combined all the characters perfectly, which is not an easy task to do. This film set up an amazing group of superheroes that kids look up to, and has spiraled into the giant MCU. With AVENGERS: ENDGAME being released today, I thought it would be fun to revisit the original that started it all. 11 years of MCU films reaches it's climactic end tonight. Having grown up during the evolution of comic book film, its been a wild ride. From Chris Reeves Superman, Tim Burton's Batman, Batman Forever, Batman and Robin, Bryan Singers X-Men, Sam Raimi's Spiderman & Chris Nolans Batman Begins. Each project raising the quality of the medium and teaching an audience, more and more, what the experience of reading an exciting comic book was really like. But when Iron Man dropped in theatres you could tell, the game had changed. The Dark Knight had come out that same year and was a revelation for what a comic book movie could be. But for the comic reader, the MCU literally took that immersive feeling of diving into a graphic novel and slapped it on screen. The deep cuts of hearing S.H.E.I.L.D for the first time, the tease of War Machine, the fear and remorse of being a captive in that cave, the legitimacy of believing a man in a tin can suit could be cool & terrifying. Kevin Feige, RDJ & Jon Favreau took what should of been ridiculous, geek lore and built a billion dollar world on it's back. And they did it by taking that concept of taking the source material seriously and elevated it to a level we never thought possible. They gave birth to the term cinematic universe, they sparked a revolution in geek entertainment and proved that these stories matter. These stories are not just for kids, or for weaker minds. These characters & books across all companies wether they be Marvel, DC, Vertigo or otherwise, demand your attention and with Endgame opening to Western audiences tonight, we, the kids who stood by their fandom for so long, stuck by our passions and withstood the ridicule, WE WON. This night is for you. Enjoy it. Take it! ITS YOURS! ✊🏻🤓🍿

Jennifer Lopez seems to not have been in film in some time and Second Act serves as a vehicle for her. In the film she plays a young woman with a boyfriend and an unsatisfying job as a big box worker Maya who has caught the eye of her general manager but isn’t appreciated for her unique ideas at the job. In comes an odd request for her to meet with the CEO of a famous cosmetics line who then surprisingly hires her to work for him. The getting from point A to point B is not a deft one. Mrs. Lopez is winning as she is indeed one who has considerable stardom, but her performance although fine feels more fickle than ever as her fans may have moved on as they’ve all grown older. There is nothing like age to show a movie star that things just ain’t the same... reality is not kind to movie stars. The film has any number of odd occurrences in that Maya is suffering from the loss of a child when she was younger, not an abortion but an adoption. This is all explained in the film and the old ‘should I tell the truth, or should I lie’ question comes up. Essentially Maya has to confront her lost daughter who works with her at her new and underserved position at a mega beauty supply company. It’s all a bit much and things seem to happen without the drama leading us before hand to flesh out character. Lopez is quite talented, but she needs too ditch her old habit of these ‘showcase’ rolls and get serious. 6.0 Out Of 10 In the end the film isn’t much of a successful one and just doesn’t have enough good movie moments to be memorable. Jennifer Lopez will have to change up soon to retain or in fact regain her past fame and renew her passion. #CLAYSMOVIEREVIEWS #movie #movies #film #films #cinema #instamovie #instamovies #moviefan #moviereview #review #critic #filmcritic #critical #moviecritic #rated #cinema #reviews #moviereviews #SECONDACT #JENNIFERLOPEZ

This has become an action movie! Bogart's cigarette just flew up a few inches from where it was yesterday. Here in the Lonely Place, that kind of movement feels violent. -REVIEW- Cinema. #AvengersEndgame (2019) directed by #JoeRusso and #AnthonyRusso starring #RobertDowneyJR #ChrisEvans #ChrisHemsworth #JeremyRenner #ScarlettJohansson #DonCheadle #KarenGillan & #JoshBrolin - RATING: 5/5🌟 - Coming out of the screening I messaged one of my mates and all I put was "That was insane" and after gathering my thoughts that small line still stands with me, every so often there comes a film which changes filmmaking, cinema and shatters the box office, whether it be Star Wars, Titanic, Avatar or the Fast and Furious movies (don't judge they've made a lot) but two consecutive years running Marvel has well and truly owned it with two astonishing movies. Endgame might be the studios best film yet, whilst with only one viewing so far I wouldn't call it a favourite of mine, but it's very good and from what I saw pretty much faultless. After the destructive ending of Infinity War that saw many fan favourite characters die right before our eyes they remaining heroes had a lot to contend with, personal loses of family, friends and team mates all meant each survivor had somebody worth fighting for. That's the premise for Endgame, the remaining avengers must come together to fight Thanos for one last time, or at least that's what they think. If you've seen the film you know the point I'm talking about. Now we can all agree writing a long and in depth review for this film is gonna be hard, spoilers galore especially so this will be looking away from that, hopefully.. Let's spilt the film into three, begging, middle and end and go into it that way. The first act of the film is full of emotion. It's all the characters meeting and dealing with what they all think is all down to them, the majority is set on earth but jumps around in space and numerous earth based locations that set the scene for many character's to begin their story begin, in space were the abandoned Tony and Nebula who were the only survivors upon titan, earth see's the rest with the return of Hawkeye/Ronin and Antman both absent from the previous because of house arrest and solo outings. It's tense seeing this range of characters coming together who had thought the other had lost..,

Doctor Strange (2016) • Director - Scott Derrickson Cast - Benedict Cumberbatch, Tilda Swinton, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Mads Mikkelsen, and Benedict Wong • I remember not being excited for this movie at all and now it’s still tied for my favorite MCU movie with The Winter Solider. This is also easily one of the strongest MCU movies especially one of the strongest origin solo movies. Cumberbatch is amazing as Doctor Strange I love every second he portrays him on screen, and this movie is so unbelievably visually magnificent • #cinemalover #autogramtags #moviestills #cinephiles #cinefilo #undefined #filmreview #filmcritic #moviejunkie #cinematographer #cinematographers #shortfilm #filmcrew #filmfeed #cinelens #filmdirector #undefined #films #filmbuff #movielife #instacinema #drstrange #avengers #marvelmemes #starlord #bbcsherlock #thorki #stevenstrange #undefined #clintbarton

So I like Prey at Night more than the original film, I think both are pretty good but not perfect. Their definitely tonally different, which is a bit of a positive and a negative. I liked the original creepy and disturbing tone, but I think the faster pace helps with keeping interest. The Strangers feel more supernatural in this film, which I don’t really like too much. I liked how real they felt in the OG, it made them a lot scarier. The acting in this film was great, like the actors in the first. I think the actors in this are better, except maybe the dad but still it’s good acting. The characters in this film are WAY more likable, I barely cared for the couple in the og. Kinsey and Luke are great, I liked them a lot. I love the Strangers (the characters), I think their cool and scary and I’m glad we have/had some great modern horror slashers. Some of the shots in this film are distracting, the zooms in particular. Sometimes it works but sometimes it REALLY takes you out of the film. A little bummed that they all died at the end, but whatever it’s still a fun scary flick. I’m gonna give this film a 7/10, yeah I know I said I like this movie better but I think they’re the same rating tbh lol. . . . #thestrangerspreyatnight #thestrangers #preyatnight #slasher #homeinvasion #strangers #strangerspreyatnight #horror #horrorfilms #horrormovie #horrormovies #horrorfilm #horrorslasher #pinupgirl #themaninthemask #dollface #film #movies #review #filmreview #moviereview #critic #filmcritic #dvd #blueray #filmography #cinema

The Wrong Trousers (1993) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “Oh! There goes me knotty pine!” Wallace and Gromit take in a sinister new lodger who uses their new techno trousers to try and steal a valuable gem. This one probably makes me laugh the most out of all the Wallace and Gromit shorts. There are so many fantastic moments such as Gromit hiding in the box, Feathers Mcgraw wiping sweat from his brow as he operates the trousers, and as for the climatic chase scene on the toy train - it’s simply sublime. The animation has stepped up a gear and, as much as I have a soft spot for the old style, it is more sophisticated than A Grand Day Out. As before, the soft, northern accent that Peter Sallis gives Wallace is perfect for him. Feathers McGraw is an excellent villain: totally silent, and ominous from the moment we meet him. This one is a total classic! #filmreview #thewrongtrousers #wallaceandgromit #feathersmcgraw #aardman #nickpark #petersallis #claymation #stopmotion #filmcritic #filmcriticism

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has accomplished something we have not seen before and likely not to ever see again. 11 years, 22 films, and one congruent narrative working toward this moment. #trailerify #MissingLink: 3 out of 5 🔹 Whilst this is a tremendous feat of cinematography and is well voiced by a terrific cast, the humour is a little flat at times and the characters lack depth. Green book, Peter Farrelly, 2018. HISTORIQUE. PUISSANT. MUSICAL. #greenbook #oscar #america #film #movie #racism #homophobie #segregation #moviecritic #critique #passion #art #cinephile #cinephage #paris #moviereview #cinephilecommunity #filmcritique #movielover #filmcritic #filmreview #critic #instamovie

A Grand Day Out (1989) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “No cheese, Gromit! Not a bit in the house!” When Wallace and Gromit run out of cheese, they take a day trip to the moon to find some there. This is one of the best animated shorts ever! I adore claymation and this one is brilliant. This first work of Nick Park is self assured and wondrously inventive. Filled with so many little jokes and asides that you just keep noticing new ones each time you watch it. What I find really special about this one in particular is how poignant it is. The menacing character of the coin operated robot gives way to a sweet yearning for skiing and just tugs at the heartstrings. It’s just a really lovely short film! #filmreview #agranddayout #wallaceandgromit #aardman #shortfilm #animatedshort #claymation #stopmotion #nickpark #filmcritic #filmcriticism

Link to full review in bio: We’re in the Endgame now. While the Marvel Cinematic Universe has come a long way with many consistently beloved films, it did take some time to find its footing. Phase One was the product of a Marvel still trying to find its way and not always sure of what it was going to do. Iron Man kicked things off and is easily one of the strongest entries into the MCU to date, with its darker, emotional moments and scenes of moral crisis, yet still retaining a sense of fun and excitement, backed by an excellent performance by Robert Downey Jr. The films that followed weren’t as strong, with The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, and Thor all being plagued by tonal issues, being some of the more serious entries in the MCU. Each weren’t complete doom and gloom but lacked the consistent sense of fun later entries were praised for. Captain America: The First Avenger saw the MCU getting back on track, and while at times it feels a bit too morally righteous for its own good, has a great throwback feel to older war movies and has some excellent action scenes throughout the movie. This all led up to an excellent team up movie with The Avengers, which is also one of the best MCU entries to date, which perfectly balanced humor with some highly emotional moments, excellent visuals, a fast pace, and the only noteworthy Phase One villain in Loki, who for a period of time was the only memorable villain in the MCU, even going into Phase Three. Phase One has some of the weaker MCU entries but even some of the lesser films aren’t necessarily bad. Each film did a solid job establishing the original Avengers who we all grew to love, and they all have some sort of redeemable qualities about them in one way or another. While Phase One started and ended great, it would still be some time before the MCU would fully find its way. #marvel #marvelcinematicuniverse #mcu #disney #phaseone #ironman #captainamerica #thor #theavengers #superheroes #comics #comicbook #critic #filmcritic #moviecritic #review #filmreview #moviereview #filmbuff #cinephile #moviebuff #filmnerd #movielover #filmlover #cinema #film #movies
