Sunday I spent the afternoon cleaning up and getting ready for the upcoming turkey season. 🦃
- Sprayed weeds and for Stickers.... (damn I hate stickers), cleaned up fallen limbs from recent storms and serviced quail and turkey feeders._
-Picture Number 1 is of my favorite place to call turkey, it’s full of tall soap berries, mesquites and a few scattered cotton woods. This little spot is awesome to call from and hear the response from a distance Tom echo through the brush, it’s one of those good sounds that gives you chill bumps and makes those hairs on your neck stand up. I can’t wait!!!
- I also decided this year that I was going to plant some blueberries bushes. Yup blueberries in west Texas 🤷🏻♂️! I may be crazy for trying to grow blueberries out in this country but we will see how it works!!
- I haven’t seen the pastures this flush with fescue, rye and winter grass in a long time! It’s such a refreshing thought to know we are starting the spring off with some ample moisture for the first time in a while!-
-These first few months of the summer are going to be awesome for the pastures and animals!_
- A quote from Henry David Thoreau ~“All good things are wild, and Free” just kept popping into my head while I was enjoying the sunshine, 65 degree weather and a cool breeze! So thankful that I grew up in the country and am blessed that I get to enjoy those kind of days!!
