There are times in life where we all wish we would have known more. In life, career, relationships, and even working out, there are lessons to be learned that we usually see more clearly once we've accomplished a goal or completed a task. The saying, "experience is the best teacher," is seemingly true. However, no one says that you have to experience the teachable moments in order to learn from them. In fact, there is a wealth of knowledge that we all can get from individuals imparting wisdom gained through their experiences (respectively). Keeping that in mind, below are some lessons learned from athletes, personal trainers and everyday people regarding working out, diet and lifestyle. It would be wise to learn from their personal experiences. Many women believe that the only way to build muscle is through lifting weights. Simply put: that's not true. Resistance training using tools like your body weight, resistance bands and medicine balls is a great way to not only build muscle, but sculpt and re-shape your body with lean muscle. The best way to begin re-shaping your body is to begin a resistance training workout three times per week. A better way to keep the muscle your body is building is to consume protein—in the form of a shake or a hard-boiled egg—within 45 minutes of ending your workout. I decided to use a Fitbit to track my activity, calories, weight, and all that good stuff. Why? I need to be more on top of my health goals. I had a heart attack last year around this time and I’m preventing it by working out (shedding weight and all), eating right (sweets, soda, and junk no longer exist in my diet), resting, and drinking a lot of water! People create so many excuses to not care for their body... I’m not! #REDJanuary : Day 17 - Active everyday.. to beat the blues away ♥️ 👟 I’ve not got much to write about today exercise wise - but I’ve stayed active and I’ve hit all my goals! This just goes to show you don’t necessarily have to go out of your way to go for a run, a swim or a gym class. You can still live an active and healthy life. Just returned home from a lovely meal with Angela (tagged) to celebrate her birthday with her team.
