Ahhhhhh is the weekend yet 😲😱. An amazing capture 📷 of an African Leopard yawning on the plains of the Masai Mara, Kenya. . . 📷 Photo by @majedphotos . . Leopards communicate with each other through distinctive calls. For instance, when a male wants to make another leopard aware of his presence, he’ll make a hoarse, raspy cough. They also growl when angry and, like domestic cats can purr. . . 🐆 Follow Us 🐯 @bigcatswildlife . . #leopard #leopards #africa #kenya #africanleopard #bigcat #bigcats #bigcatswildlife #africanimals #africanwildlifephotography #wildlifeig #instawildlife #discoverwildlife #wildloveadventures #wildernessculture #capturethewild #wildplanet #igswildlife #photowildlife #wildnature_shotz #wildnature #keepnaturewild #wildbynature #nationalpark #masaimaranationalpark #catsoftheworld #catsofafrica #yawn

Malayan Colugos are mainly herbivorous, but has also been known to eat insects. Their food sources largely depend on what is available within their habitat. Malayan Colugos are known to largely feed on the softer parts of plants, such as: flowers, fruits, leaves, nectar, and sap. Like true lemurs, the Malayan Colugo has comb-shaped incisors that scientists believe are used to clean its fur of parasites, scrape sap from trees, and strain flowers and fruits. • • • 📸: Francis Yap

The Malayan Colugo is an expert climber. They have curled claws, disc-like suction cups on their digits, and webbed feet that provide it with a strong ability to grip onto tree trunks. When they feel threatened, they will either freeze where they are in an attempt to avoid detection, or they will quickly scurry father up the tree to safety. From here they can choose to expand their patagium to glide their way to safety or not. Malayan Colugos can glide up to 100m(328ft) while only losing up to 10m(32ft) in elevation! • • • 📸1: Vilma D'Rozario/Flickr 📸2: Norman Lim

The Malayan Colugo, also known as the Malayan Flying Lemur or the Sunda Flying Lemur, is endemic to Indochina and Sundaland. Within the two regions they can be found in forest edges, highlands, plantations, and tropical rainforests. They are strictly arboreal, and are rather vulnerable when on the forest floor. The common name "Flying Lemur" is misleading as they do not fly and they are not lemurs. All lemur species are endemic to Madagascar and instead of flying, they glide; using a membrane of skin known as a patagium. • • • 📽: Yc Wee/YouTube

I had one shot to get this photograph on this day. Literally. Film camera, no power winder (take one shot, then wind the film manually, then take another shot). Not to mention no autofocus. What I did have was youth, luck and knowledge of where the narrowest part of the canyon was.

Incredible week so far! After a few fun sightings of a minke whale earlier this week, a pod of Risso dolphins made their way into the area, accompanied by both common and bottlenose dolphins just yesterday afternoon. The variety of marine wildlife we spot is simply amazing! #whalecapital #whalecapitaloftheworld #whalewatchingcapital (📸: Mark Tyson)

Also with the Red Dragonflies the males are the more beautiful ones (as so often in the animal kingdom: the females are coloured brown), surely to move the females with their signal-red colour splendour to the mating, or to attract attention. With us humans the women beguile the men with their beauty - and decide then nevertheless 😂😉... The Red Dragonfly is originally spread in the warm areas of Africa, Near East and Southern Europe, one can find it meanwhile however also in Germany. Here it was voted Dragonfly of the Year 2011 . . #reddragonfly #namibia #dragonfliesphotography #red #redmood #insects #macro #insects_macro #insectsmacro #insectsphotography #insectsworld #insects_of_our_world #insects_pics #insects_perfection #travel #travelphotography #wildlife #wildlifephotography #wildlifephotographer #discoverwildlife #wildlifeplanet #wildlifeonearth #wilderness #nature #naturelovers #naturephotography #wandernweltweit #worldexplorer #earth #planetearth

Common ostrich (Struthio camelus), Kruger National Park, South Africa. - The Olympus pro lenses are so sharp that zooming in on the RAW file is practically like examining cells under a microscope. This is especially fun for difficult subjects like this ostrich that never stopped moving and whose tiny head made it especially hard to nail the focus and capture the fine details. I was convinced that I blew the shot until I checked the file. Olympus, if you're listening, I'm gonna need you to finish up that 150-400 lens and ship it to the states before our trip to Peru this December.

Today was the global #climatestrike when hundreds of thousands of people stood up across the globe to show the global leaders what we want. We want climate justice. We want an end to this fossil fuel age. The UN are having a climate summit on Monday, we implore them to commit to the emergency at hand. "I am here to say, our house is on fire... I want you to act as you would in a crisis. I want you to act as if our house is on fire. Because it is." - a quote from the people's hero, Greta Thunberg

Oriental Dwarf Kingfisher with juicy frog😋🐸!! . ----------------------------------- . Continuation of my previous post on the facts about Oriental Dwarf Kingfisher which is one of the most beautiful and colorful birds I have ever seen. Unlike their cousins, they seem to love feeding on lizards, geckos, crabs, frogs etc. Before eating their hard earned meal, they kill them by holding them in their beak and continuously hitting them on the perch. Nesting and raising the chick is not on one parent, infact both male and female take their turns in the upbringing. The chicks grow up pretty quick which could be around 15 to 20 days after which they are big enough to leave the nest. Till then either male or female stay with the chicks inside the nest, which is like a tunnel made in mud walls for about a meter long while the other one goes out for the hunt. After a successful hunt, the parent returns and drops the food inside the nest and leaves while the other one which was with the chick will take care of the feeding. Male and female Oriental Dwarf Kingfisher look similar with female being slightly bigger in size. But when we see them apart, we couldn't tell the difference. The other way to find the difference is, male will have nice and colorful head while female will have somewhat Rufus head and similarly female will have less colorful back. . --------------------------------- . Gorgeous bird! . Some see the Seaside Sparrow as having drab colors. But in the right light and the right background these critters just pop!
