Cyanotype and Gum Bichromate are antique photographic processes originated in the middle of the 19th century. Today, they are counted among the myriad of processes counted as “alternative”. On two days in May, I will be at The Art Center in Dover sharing my thoughts, ideas, and knowledge regarding how I create my work, from inception to completion. If you are interested in learning how to do this, I invite you to join me and create your own work using he techniques that I will teach you, or by feeding off of those ideas to create your own entirely new and unique imagery. I am not a scientist, I am an artist. There are infinite methods, variations, variables, and techniques, and we will not have time to go over even a small percentage of them. What we will have time for over the combined 8 hours of instruction is the way that I create my work, hopefully opening doors for you to incorporate these ideas into your own work.
All materials will be provided. Having a laptop computer with Photoshop would be nice, but is in no way required. You will need to have multiple digital images to consider for printing. I find the best images to be bold, and graphically strong, not relying on minute detail for their success. Everyone should leave the class with 2 completed images to take with them.
