There have been quite a few new followers here lately so I think it is time to have a #fridayintroductions 😄
My name is Ashley (I always feel weird saying that here when it is probably obvious given my IG handle but it’s just proper manners right?!😅) and my family and I live in Midwest MI.
I grew up in the conventional dairy industry and started my first job at 11 years old milking cows. Which led to me purchasing my own small herd of registered Holsteins that I dragged all over the state (and even went to World Dairy Expo once) showing them at association events and 4H shows.
When I “graduated” high school I sold my cows but stayed in the industry until I had my babies. Becoming a parent was a catalyst to my current passions and beliefs.
After having babies I started researching EVERYTHING. I am not kidding you. And what I found was that a lot of what we have been told is very, very wrong. And that a lot of the “systems” we have in place are meant to keep us slaves (ahem dairy industry, cough, healthcare industry). So after opening my eyes and seeing real truth I swore off the conventional dairy industry and haven’t looked back.
Now this is NOT a stab against dairy farmers. Many dairy farmers are the kindest (albeit most stressed 😆), most generous, giving, hardest working folk I know. This isn’t about them. This is about the industry that has made them slaves. And I get it! It is SO hard to change, especially when you have a whole business and livelihood on your shoulders. But it doesn’t make the corruption of the system okay.
Whew! How did we get here?!😅😅😅 Anyway, I am Ashley, believer in researching EVERYTHING, passionate about freedom and stewarding our earth properly, maker of real food and good soil, lover of babies and family, encourager of growth and change, baker of exclusively sourdough bread and things, and advocate for real health.
Oh and I am known for going off on random rants 😅 welcome to the first of many 😆
Now your turn! Describe to me in 5 words or less your cooking style! 😄
