@TheUrbanVoyager: Hi, I am Tanmay, and I live in the Bay Area of Northern California. I am a landscape photographer, and I work for @Apple as a hardware designer. As a child, I picked up an outdoorsy lifestyle from my dad who was a veteran expedition leader in the Western Ghats of India. By the time I was 13, I was already doing fairly technical Himalayan treks and exploring untouched scenery in my home state of Maharashtra. And then life happened, albeit a little too early. I was confined to my house for the next few years. It was during this time that I took a liking to Indian Classical Art which later evolved to graphic design and photography. As I got older, photography gave me a reason to go back to these places. However, to my dismay, I was finding these places in much worse condition than when I had last seen them. Social media had started to attract more people to these places, mostly those who appreciated nature but some that didn’t. And it really started to bother me. I asked myself why are humans so incapable of living in harmony with nature? And from this point on I started to get involved with nature conservation. I wish that some day, with all of our combined effort, we will be able to undo some of the harm that has been done. And perhaps generations to come will be able to experience the same joy that I did as a child exploring this beautiful planet unharmed by greedy humans.
