MUST HAVE MODERN- DAY EDM ALBUMS.
EDM has been a big,big part of my life. I’ve had some of the best memories of my life with these albums playing. And I want to share with you why you should go check these albums out. •TRUE by Avicii is definitely a top contender as a modern day classic. Not just EDM wise but music wise as well. This album single handedly brought EDM to the mainstream. Much like Skrillex introduced dubstep in 2011, this album had its own originality. It blended both country and EDM and added his own folk flavor to some of the songs on this album such as “Hey Brother” and the hit single “Wake Me Up!” Of course it has some EDM bangers like “Liar Liar”, “You Make Me” and my personal favorite “Hope There’s someone” Avicii was an innovator indeed. •Worlds by Porter Robinson is probably my favorite album of this decade. That maybe a hot take and understandably so, but this album is beautiful. Absolutely beautifully done. It’s unlike anything I’ve heard. There’s not a bad track on this album. From the first track “Divinity” to “Goodbye to a world” it’s an album that tells a story with its sound and the vocals add to it immensely. Tales of heartbreak, loneliness and hope. This album has been with me through the darkest of days. Probably why it had such an effect on me. Please listen to this album if you’re going through something. It’s audio healing. It hurts me so much that Porter doesn’t want to make any music involving this sound anymore but I’ll continue to support him in whatever he does.
•18 Months by Calvin Harris is an album filled with bangers. I have had some of the best times of my life with this album. 2011 was a great year for me as I was in 7th grade and had a whole group of friends that loved this album as well. It was just a very wholesome album and the hits it created are EDM classics “We Found Love” is the biggest out of all of them. It just has the nostalgic feeling and every time I want to travel back in time for a little bit to relive those days, I go to this album. “Feel so close” is also a big one for me as well. Nostalgia is the word to describe this.
