JAWLINE INJECTION PEARLS
The aesthetic ideal for a jawline: A well defined, smooth, uninterrupted, linear trajectory from the chin to the angle of the mandible.
Achieving great results will rely upon our ability to assess the patient’s bone structure, soft tissue and skin quality.
We must also understand our patient’s ideal outcome and recognize the key differences in masculinizing and feminizing these structural angles.
AGING of the jawline is multifactorial. Soft tissue deflation and descent will always be part of the process, but we very much see boney recession in the mandible as a big culprit.

ANGLES: The ideal mandibular angle is described in the literature as 128*. To find this angle draw a line along the inferior border of the mandible and a perpendicular line drawn parallel to the angle of the auricle, positioned just in front of the tragus.
Although personally I find that I try to correct my male patient’s somewhere closer to 100-110* and my female patient’s between 110-120*.
PRODUCT SELECTION: this particular treatment is truly about trying to recreate bone. We want to put back what was lost, or add what was never God given. At this time, here in the US, our best product (in my opinion) is Voluma.
It is highly cohesive and elastic, and it has enough “oomph” to get the job done. It has been my experience that other more robust products are not cohesive enough and tend to look “boggy” when placed here.
(In my practice I choose to only use reversible products for safety reasons.)
