French Hospital, Fáskrúðsfjörður, 2006
As you drive along the main highway on the southeastern fjords, you used to come around a bend and this majestic building would appear before your eyes.
When I drove the route a couple of years ago, I thought I had just not gone far enough along the road to see it. I didn’t think much of it, just disappointed that I could not visit it once more.
But I didn’t miss it.
From what I understand it was deconstructed and moved to a nearby town for restoration. Good and bad I guess. I’m glad I was able to see it in this place, in that condition.
Nature is not always kind, but it you can’t deny that it creates it’s own beauty. I hope they were able to maintain what made it beautiful.
