Tucked away in Malawi, @liwonde_national_park is one of Africa's lesser known gems and a biodiversity hotspot. Liwonde's animals—including elephants, rhinos, hippos, buffalo, and over 600 species of birds—compete daily with the dense human communities that surround the park, for access to food, water, and grazing space. In order to lessen human-wildlife conflict, we work within these communities to help people meet the needs they identify, such as food and water security, in sustainable and economical ways. Each step we take towards conservation-minded livelihoods helps us secure a future where we coexist peacefully alongside the animals we share the planet with.
