Long post . . So more people have been having an urge to tell me that I have a beautiful face, but that too bad I am not skinny. I've never been any other size in my life other than plus size. So to think that I am anything other than the size that I am is beyond wishful thinking. Not to say that I don't try and make attempts to become healthier. But at any given moment, I support body acceptance. Not for just me, but for every single person out there. I don't care where you're at with your life, but loving the skin you're in is absolutely one of the most important things you can do for yourself. So before you go and try and give me a bullshit conditional compliment like 'you're beautiful—for a big girl', just know that I wont hate you or resent you. I'll just know that you have a complete disregard for understanding people's struggles and insecurities due to your own ignorance. No one knows how to hurt people with noticeable insecurities more than the people who live with them everyday. All you've done is just make those insecurities audible. You reduced me to just my body. But you never considered that there was anything more to me, right? Like how I know that I am a ride or die friend for many people. Like how I know that I bring my all when it comes to doing the things that I'm passionate about. Like how I will move hell and high water for those I care about. And how I refuse to let others define me. I don't believe that I am worth any less than those who are smaller than me, nor believe that I am worth any more than those who are larger. Hi lovelies! 😊 I have a new cosplay, it's Raven! I've always loved her character and have been wanting to do a cosplay of her for the longest time. This cosplay was possible with the help of one of my top fans and donaters, Jason Fisher! I was planning to wear this to ECCC, but I wanted to sadly let you guys know who were looking forward to seeing me, that I will not be attending. I have a last minute trip planned in a couple of weeks and my health has been extra bad lately. I can't afford to get a virus (I always get a bad one every con), or push my body past its limit before then. Thank you for understanding!❤️ This will be my first year in the past 8 that I will be missing comicon. Bleh. Has been an uneventful year for cons and cosplays for me so far, but at least I have PAX this year! My favorite. Though it's a ways away. 💥💥 LET'S TALK ABOUT TIGHT HIPS 💥💥 . Have you ever complained of hip tightness particularly at the bottom of your squat or deadlift? Does this prevent you from performing optimally? Why does this happen? 🤔 There are a number of reasons but let's talk about one of them, hip flexor 'tightness', a.k.a. the iliopsoas. . The iliopsoas is the prime mover for hip flexion and is the combination of 2 muscles, the iliacus and the psoas. The psoas starts from the spine and travels forwards, joining the iliacus, to insert into the femur. Due to it's location, when irritated this muscle can also generate low back pain! . Usually a 'tight' muscle is an uninhibited one, it is constantly 'firing off' inappropriately. In a squat, although you are in hip flexion, it is the hip extensors that should be doing all the work. So why do the hip flexors end up being an issue? 🤔 These muscles are actually co-contracting to help stabilize the body while in a squat and can be pinched while in a deep hip flexion angle. So how do we fix this? We increase the capacity of the muscle so that it can tolerate higher loads & re-train its motor patterning. Here are a few progessive exercises from easiest ➡️ hardest. . ➡️ Knee Up Holds . ➡️ Straight Leg Raises . ➡️ Hip Hurdles (Short) . ➡️ Hip Hurdles (Long) . In the beginning of my yoga journey, it was really just about feeling good in the morning and doing something new. I didn’t post it anywhere, I did like two timelaps videos (that I’ve never posted) during the first 6 months even tho I did yoga every morning. But then I got more flexible, the poses have started to look better and because most of the people I follow are yogis I had instagram full of gorgeous pics of unbelievable poses and I wanted to be able to do the same. Doing more advanced poses during home practice/in classes feels good but taking yoga pics doesn’t. At least not for me. Backbends look good. Great even. They just don’t feel good when you do them a little bit deeper than you’d normally do them on your mat without the same amount of warm up and they definitely don’t feel good when you do them repeatedly without counter poses. “Do it for the instagram” is not worth the headaches, nausea and potentional injuries. Just wanted to say that and leave here this not at all perfect chapasana. I can do it with straight legs, but I just didn’t feel like it in that moment and all I really want is to have yoga as the “feel good during and after” thing in my life. 📷 @kristinabbodermatt 🖤

This stretch is what I call the adductor rock back with a twist. . What this stretch does is two-fold: 1. It stretches the adductors, which are important to work on since they can limit your squat depth due to their anatomical attachments on your femur and pelvis. 2. The twist at the end of the range of motion helps you to differentiate hip motion from spine motion. . When you do this, try not to round your lower back. You won't get the stretch on the adductors as intended if you let your back round. You have to keep your spine stiff by contracting your abs and lower back muscles. It's a fight between your lower back and adductors. . Once you get as deep as you can, try rotating your hip joint a couple of times without rounding your back. When someone has a hard time with this they end up flexing and extending their spine instead of rotating the hip joint. You might want to record a video of yourself doing this to check form. . Repeat for 10 reps each side with 2 rotations each rep at the bottom. . We use this drill in our hip and low back mobility program on the day that focuses on rotation and the adductors (you can download a sample of the program at our link in bio). . #mfcommunity #movementfix #movement #mobility #chiro #pt #fitness #training #adductors #hips

Hunter’s little hand on the bed 💙 It’s been a week since Brad’s hip replacement surgery (he has a degenerative issue with his hips and will also need the other one replaced eventually😞). Brad’s body didn’t respond well to the anesthetic and he was quite sick for a few days. I actually found it really confronting seeing him like this because I’m used to him always being super healthy and vibrant 💫 So glad he’s home now; his leg’s still very sore, swollen and bruised, but he’s progressing every day. We’re so proud of you Daddy 💕

One does not simply do yoga without recording it. 👌 #bormir No seriously it's a good idea to record yourself. Watching my inversion videos I realized one of my legs lags a bit. Which makes sense because I've had piriformis issues with it. I've started to spend a bit more time stretching it, foam rolling it, and strengthening it and I can tell it's getting better. I'm also working on slowing my descent in puppy press pincha to really get my core working.
