I can die happy. If you didn’t see my story yesterday, I got this photo with my 50mm.. I had been at the viewing site the day before filming the festival, and over heard someone saying that the puffins come to viewing side from time to time. So naturally I got it in my head that I was getting up at 5am and get them to come over. The night prior I equipped myself with 2 packs of sardines and tried to get to bed early. When we landed at the site, I emptied the cans on the cliff side and prayed something would happen. We waited, and waited, and waited, and waited... They didn’t care 1 bit about the sardines.. Miraculously,2 little beauties decided to check on their burrow, which was neatly tucked away on the viewing side. I got down on my belly and crawled my way to them. I couldn’t believe how close I was able to get. I couldn’t believe how small they were. I especially couldn’t believe I got the shot. -
This is my little anecdote behind this photo. There’s 2 things I want to put out. -
1. Gear is never a reason to limit yourself, no matter what. I could’ve easily gave up and not even went to the site cause the longest lens I had with me was a 50mm. Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity. -
2. This is a huge check mark on my photo bucket list. Truthfully, I nearly teared up a bit knowing I finally got it.
